Membership and Terms
Trustees are drawn from several sources.
The Head of School serves ex officio.
The rectors of Holy Trinity Church and St. Bede’s Church also serve ex officio. As sponsors of Trinity School, each church nominates three parish members to serve on the Board. Parish members serve three year terms.
At Large Trustees are drawn from the Trinity School parent body and the broader community. At Large Trustees serve three year terms.
Each year, the President of the Trinity Parent Association (TPA) and one faculty member serve on the Board; they serve a one year term.
The Board leadership is decided by the Board. There can be up to 19 trustees, two-thirds of whom are Episcopalians in good standing.
Board Meetings
The Board of Trustees holds regular meetings, usually on the fourth Wednesday of each month from September through May in the Trinity School Library. The Board welcomes any interested person to attend a meeting as a silent observer. Attendance is at the Board's discretion. Please contact the Board Chair to secure an invitation to an appropriate meeting. Parents or others may speak at a meeting by being placed on the agenda, either as an invited speaker or by requesting a formal opportunity to address the Board in person.
For details, please see the School Directory and Handbook, provided annually to each family.

Board of Trustees
In 1996, the Board decided to categorize committees as “standing,” “ad hoc,” or “related organizations.”
Standing Committees of the Board
Executive Committee: This committee acts on behalf of the Board in emergency situations and in setting the agenda for board meetings. While it does not make policy, it can make decisions which affect policy with the understanding that these decisions will be reviewed by the full Board.
a. Nominating Committee: The Executive Committee assumes the role of this committee whose function is to recommend nominees to the Board of Trustees when an opening occurs. Both member rectors also sit on the nominating committee.
b. Personnel Committee: The Executive Committee serves as an advisory group for personnel issues which are either brought to it by the Head of School or which have not been satisfied through the normal channels of communication as outlined in the Trinity School Contract.- Finance: This committee oversees the financial reporting of the School ensuring both its financial health and its compliance with standard accounting practices. It reviews insurance policies and coverage levels, and recommends an annual budget and tuition schedule for the approval of the Board. This Committee will also spearhead the Finance tasks outlined in the Strategic Plan.
a. Buildings and Grounds: This committee works with the School administration to study and bring forward facilities related issues on the three campuses used by the School. The Finance Committee assumes the role and membership of this committee. This Committee will also spearhead the Facilities tasks outlined in the Strategic Plan. - Development: This committee conducts the Annual Fund on behalf of the Board. It also sets annual fundraising goals and oversees the identification and cultivation of major donors in conjunction with the Head of School and the Director of Development.
- Strategic Planning: This committee creates, revises, and oversees the implementation of the School’s Strategic Planning process.
- Trustees: The Trustee Committee orients new trustees. The committee suggests resources and speakers as necessary for the continuing edification of the Board. This committee presents an annual problem-based agenda tied to the annual Board calendar. A task of the Trustee Committee is the annual review and revision of the Board Policies and Procedures Manual. The Trustee Committee also selects a vehicle for and oversees the annual Board evaluation of itself. The committee will also spearhead the governance tasks identified in the Strategic Plan.
Ad Hoc Committees of the Board
- Communications Committee: As necessary, the Communications Committee assists the School in the overall communications standards, positioning, and branding of the school.
Related Organizations
- Trinity Parents Association (TPA): This is the formal organization for parent participation in the life of the school. It also organizes community events and provides hospitality and other services to support school activities and programs. It organizes and conducts the annual Celebration & Auction.
