In case you didn’t have access to the first letter to the community about Peter, it’s posted here. Since this letter, Peter has made modest improvement although he remains in ICU. Check back here for daily updates for the time being.
Dear Community Families,
Do you know Peter Hanson? He should be with his classmates in Grade 2 at Trinity School, but for nearly two weeks he has been and continues to be in the hospital in intensive care with an unknown lung pathogen that isn’t allowing him to breath on his own. This is Peter’s fourth time in the hospital this year, and the past two weeks have been very dicey indeed for this intrepid little boy.
Peter’s amazing parents, Charles and Katharine, are highly respected teachers at Menlo School. Peter’s older brother John (Happy Birthday today to John) is in Grade 4 at Trinity School. Ilsa, Peter and John’s sister, is age 3.
Charles teaches during the day and sits up nights in the hospital with Peter. Katharine, once John and Ilsa are in school, sits with Peter during the day. With no immediate family in the area, Katharine and Charles are flying solo – but for the love and care of people in the Menlo School, and especially those of the Trinity School community.
Many many people in our wonderful community are asking how we can help. After our prayers and our love, what the Hanson family needs most right now is financial support.
Trinity School’s TPA has established a Hanson Family Fund. Should you be moved to give a monetary gift, please make your check to the TPA and note on the memo line that your gift is for the Hanson Family Fund. Each Friday the funds received will be forwarded to the Hanson family for their use in this very challenging time.
Your gift can be sent to:
TPA
Trinity School
2650 Sand Hill Road
Menlo Park, CA 94025
Or dropped off at the School Office
I’ll be posting an update about Peter on my blog daily beginning tomorrow. I’ll also let you know how the Hanson Family Fund is doing.
Today children made cards and posters for Peter. This afternoon, teachers and other personnel added to the effort. Parents close to the family continue providing meals and care for John and Ilsa. I’m asking you to look into your heart and help the Hanson family in their time of need.
Thank you,
Mary
