Spanish

Up one level
by Sarah Bridgewater last modified 2006-09-21 12:58

Students begin their conversational and cultural introduction to Spanish in Kindergarten through Grade 5 with classes two or three times a week depending on grade level. Spanish is the second most spoken language in California. Our history and geography invite children to understand the names and places in the California landscape. Spanish instructional methods incorporate the most developmentally as well as academically appropriate methods in second language acquisition. Hands-on activities using art, cooking, music, technology, dialog, reading, research, and writing motivate the students. The goal of Spanish language instruction in the elementary grades is to provide exposure to the language and the many cultures that speak it.
