Technology Integration

Up one level
by Sarah Bridgewater last modified 2006-09-21 12:58

At Trinity School, technology is a tool to leverage learning and to support students’ ability to communicate their thinking. Teachers integrate technology skills into the curriculum to meet Academic Standards. It is a testament to the School’s deep belief that technology is a tool for thinking that Trinity does not have a computer lab and does not teach computers as a subject discipline.

Trinity educators design learning experiences to use technology to amplify selected teaching and learning practices such as higher - order thinking, creativity, and knowledge construction. Technology standards at each grade level guide teachers with this planning. A mobile lab of laptop computers moves from classroom to classroom providing individual access to the School server, printers, and guided Internet access. Each classroom is equipped with four desktop computers, a digital camera, and scanner to facilitate small group work. In addition, digital cameras, scanners, and projectors are available for larger group projects.

Trinity School also sees accurate keyboarding as an essential life skill in today’s world. Consequently, there is a thorough keyboard skills development program ancillary to the academic curriculum that typically involves instruction and practice time for six weeks each year. Students enhance their learning at every grade level through technology. By Grade 5, students are very well prepared for the tools and programs available to them in middle school.
