Art
Junior Kindergarten through Grade 5 students enjoy weekly art classes. Over the course of the year, students study line, shape, color, value, contour, ceramics, multi-cultural art, self-portraiture, and artist studies. Principles of art concepts build upon each other, spiraling from grade to grade with children’s increasing skill. For example during the study of shape, Grade 1 students will work on line that is descriptive and shows movement. In Grade 5 the concept of line explores three-dimensional forms such as wire sculptures. Students at all grade levels work with a variety of materials and concepts drawn from the inspiration and instruction of major artists old and new.
