Faculty Venture Grants
The purpose of the Faculty Venture Grant is to create a restricted fund separate from the Annual Fund to support professional development for faculty that meets an institutional priority or a curricular need including, but not limited to:
- focused reading, study, and research that will lead to the development and incorporation of new ideas into existing curriculum
- experimentation with creative pedagogy and new approaches to teaching
- travel directly related to a field of teaching expertise and which will have a tangible impact on the curriculum
Among grants awarded since 2007:
- focused research to incorporate new teaching ideas into math, reading, writing, science, and Spanish curricula
- focused research regarding how teachers can develop, improve, and model effective language
- focused study to incorporate techniques of "Inquiry-Based Learning"
- focused study regarding positive approaches to discipline
- focused research regarding historic cultures of the Southwest
- focused research to incorporate American presidents into our curriculum
- focused study to incorporate Responsive Classroom ideas
- travel related to incorporating innovative technological advancements into classrooms and curriculum
- travel related to participation in summer seminars by the National Endowments for the Arts and Humanities
