Our annual Penny Panic fundraiser for all grades’ Service Learning projects has kicked off, students can start bringing in money to their classroom bins.

Each grade chooses their own service project during the school year to learn about, help, and present to the school. During Penny Panic, students bring in money they earned to give to their project, and the class researches and decides on an organization to support. It is called Penny Panic, but that means all kinds of money, not just pennies.

The focus of Penny Panic is for students to earn their own money to support the projects they have chosen.  As one of our Penny Panic team students summarized: " You should work for the money because otherwise you aren’t doing anything to contribute."  Our team brainstormed these suggestions for earning your own money: doing chores around the house like vacuuming, washing dishes, cleaning up after a pet, or dusting; small jobs like caring for a pet, mowing the lawn, weeding, watching younger children, or washing windows and screens for relatives, friends, or neighbors (or your own family); or making a stand to sell lemonade, cookies, or brownies (be sure to make a sign saying where the money will be donated).
